KAFO, varus/valgus orthosis, immobilised knee joint, prefabricated


Orthosis to support through manual action or through operation achieved corrections to the deformity of joints of the lower limb of the new-born club-foot child.
Different versions exist, such as:
* dynamic version: the thigh-knee and foot part of the brace can incorporate ankle, subtalar and forefoot joints, where elastic dynamic elements stretches the involved bones and tissues in neutral direction
* static version: leather shoe with adjustable metal uprights
* versions with thigh/knee and foot part coupled by dorsal bars incorporating ankle joint and forefoot joint to be statically adjusted.

Intended Use Text

Orthosis to stretch and correct joints in neutral position, to stimulate healing and to avoid from later impairments in standing and walking. Used as night-splint and daytime before the age of walking.
Used to support manual treatment or post operatively.
