Rigid corset that fixes the pelvic and lumbar trunk in anterior and posterior motion as well as lateral motion. Different versions exists like:
* circular polyethylene brace with opening ventral
* ventral plus dorsal plastic shell
* dorsal metal frame with ventral shell
* dorsal shell with apron front (McAusland, Knight, Wilcox).

With or without additional lining materials for fitting and comfort.
Occasionally an additional thoracic support may be connected to avoid rotation or inclination of the thorax (see TLSO).
Custom made. Includes casting and cast preparation.

Orthosis to immobilise the lumbar spine in normal posture and to compensate for weak muscle activity in the lumbar spine region. Enabling to execute activities and to participate in society.
To be applied in case the prefabricated version does not fit due to impairments of body functions and/or structures.
