TLSO, hyperextension orthosis, with lateral support, prefabricated

A rigid framed orthosis composed of a symphysis and a sternal support connected to a metal frame. At the level of the waist a textile strap or metal construction connects a lumbar support made from textile or plastic. Depending on the load different sizes of supports are available.
Supports lordosis through fitting the spine with three points together with restrictions of lateral motion and rotation of the spine. If the symphysis pad is fixed with a bar which crosses the spina iliaca anterior, the patient tilts the pelvis backwards and mainly relieves the ventral part of the lower thoracic spine.
This relieves the ventral spine between lumbar and low thoracic region, depending on the type and size of the supports.
Lateral motion and rotation of the spine is reduced.
Custom fitted on the basis of prefabricated components or kits.
